Mutation: Powerful telepathy, ranged several miles, also can fire a beam of what appears to be white energy out of her left eye which disrupts the the motor functions of the body for short periods of time, rendering the victim unable to move or speak, but still conscious.

History: Born in Roswell, New Mexico on December 7, 1985, Elizabeth's gift was not evident from birth, unlike certain other mutants, so she lived a fairly normal life
amongst "normal" humans. Unfortunately, when she was four years old she lost her parents to an airplane accident and went to live with her paternal grandparents, avid mutant-haters. Three days after her fourteenth birthday, Elizabeth's left eye began to glow a soft white color on and off, sometimes glowing brightly, sometimes not even glowing at all. One evening, her grandparents witnessed this happening and promptly threw her out into the streets.

Here she was found by the non-corporeal mutant known as Malice, who takes over the bodies and minds of her victims and manifests herself as a cameo choker necklace. Malice was a hateful mutant who felt that mutants were vastly superior to humans. As Malice possessed Elizabeth, she grew even more hateful, using Elizabeth's gifts in destructive ways in the streets of Roswell.

She was sought out by Gambit, a young mutant thief who was in employed by Mister Sinister to collect a group of so-called "genetically superior" mutants for a band he referred to as the Marauders. Gambit, seeking a paycheck of any sort, did so, and brought Malice to Sinister, who used her to collect other mutants and humans for test subjects in his horrifying genetic experiments. Gambit soon grew disgusted with himself and left the group, leaving Elizabeth, still under the control of Malice, with Sinister.

About a year later, Sinister brought to his lair Scott Summers, a friend of Gambit's. When Elizabeth saw the treatment Summers was being giving, she attempted to throw off Malice's control, which is something she had been trying to to for several years with no luck. Finally, she broke through, but Malice fought back, pressing Elizabeth back into the deep recesses of her own mind.

It wasn't until Sinister killed a member of the team rescue team sent to retrieve Summers that Elizabeth finally had enough with Malice. She watched Apollo shed tears over the dead body of his best friend, Diana, and finally fought hard enough, driving Malice out of her. This struggle pushed her powers to their full limit, straining her so greatly that now her left eye glows bright white at all times, a battle scar from her fight with Malice.

Elizabeth, returned home with the X-Men and Team X to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, where she found that there were people who tolerated both mutants and humans and sought to unify the two. She agreed to stay at the school, hoping to someday join Team X and, eventually, the X-Men, and help with Xavier's never-ending fight for the future of human-mutant relations. She is known in the halls of the school by her nickname, "Diamond."
