Mutation: Ryan can absorb electrical and mechanical devices into his own body, utilizing their designs to enhance his abilities. He can normally absorb about five devices without losing control of his powers. This number fluctuates depending on the complexity of the devices. He gains the mass of whatever he absorbs, but no additional strength (as he learned when he tried to absorb a car). Should he lose consciousness, everything he's absorbed is released. One of the objects he normally absorbs is his battlesuit, which contains processors, armor, and pneumatic drivers that enhance his mental capacity, defense and strength.

History: The son of American diplomats, Ryan traveled around the world in his youth. On his fifteenth birthday his father took him along on an inspection of a Japanese weapons research facility. While handling an experimental plasma gun Ryan absorbed it into himself, then lost control. The resulting explosion destroyed half the weapons lab and crippled his father. After learning the reasons for the accident his mother used her contacts in the government to first obtain the battlesuit to contain his powers, then to contact Charles Xavier.
