History: Jean was the youngest of two daughters, and greatly loved by her parents John and Elaine Grey. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Jean was 10 years old. She was playing with her best friend, Anne, near the street, when Anne rushed into the road and was struck by a car. Jean held the dying Anne in her arms, and suddenly found herself inside Anne's head. Jean was inside of Anne's mind when she died.

This trauma had awakened Jean's telepathic powers. At the age of 10, Jean was not mature enough to handle these growing gifts. To keep herself from going mad from all the voices she heard in her head, Jean shut herself off from the rest of the world.

Jean's parents were in contact with alot of experts, but none of them could help her ... until they met a certain Professor Charles Xavier. The Professor took Jean to his mansion in Salem Center, Westchester, New York. Their Xavier, himself a telepath, reached into Jean's mind and put dampers on her telepathic powersso that they would resurface when she was ready to handle them herself. While jean was with Xavier he trained her in the use of her power, telekinetics. Eventually the young girl returned home to be with her parents.

After a few years Jean returned to join the Professor's school for gifted youngsters. Whilst there Jean fell in love with Scott Summers. They have now admitted their feelings for each other and recently became engaged. Admittedly she feels some attraction to fellow X-Man Logan, but her heart belongs to Scott.
