History: Michael J. Nelson grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When he was 18 years of age, he decided that it was time to leave Minnesota and look for his fortune in New York City. He moved to a small apartment in Salem Center, around the same time the "mutant question" became a legal issue. Mike, a "normal" human, had no reason to hate mutants and had, in fact, become friends with several of them. He decided to open up a coffee shop in Salem Center called the Epic Expresso and declared it mutant-friendly. He has made quite a few enemies by opening the shop, but enough powerful friends that he doesn't feel too intimidated.

Mike has many hobbies, but above all he enjoys watching b-movies, not to relish the tacky film-making and enjoy it to the highest degree, but rather to sit with his friends and poke fun at them. Mike is known for his jocular demeanor, although he can defend himself if necessary, being a blackbelt in kung fu.
