The X-Men Movie RPG FAQ 1. What is the X-Men Movie RPG? We are a group of people who love X-Men and writing! The game began on August 27th, 2000, and has grown like crazy. People come and go, but we tend to have anywhere between 10 and 25 active members at a time. The club itself is located at Yahoo Groups. 2. How do you play an online RPG? Playing an online RPG is very much like writing fanfiction, except that you only get to write parts of the story. Each player chooses a character(s) to write for. They write *only* for those characters. For instance, I play Beast in our game. If I'm having a conversation with Gambit, I would post a message to the group writing about Beast's dialog, action, and feelings. When Gambit read the message, he would reply with his characters dialog. The basic rule of RPGing is... *NEVER move another players character!* It sounds trickier than it really is; most people catch on pretty quickly. 3. Does the X-Men Movie RPG deal only with characters featured in the movie? No! It'd be a pretty limited game if we did. There are several X-Men rpgs out there, this was just our way of distinguishing ourselves from the rest. Movie, comicbook, and made-up characters are all welcome! 4. I've seen X-Men the Movie but I've never followed the comic books. Will I be lost? Not at all. Many of us are familiar with the comics, but are not avid readers. When a character or plotline from a comic book is introduced, bios or some other form of explination will be used to help everyone understand what's going on. 5. The character I want to play is already listed in the Cerebro database. Does that mean that character is unavailable? No. Check the Professor's Most Wanted List, or e-mail Will to find out for sure. 6. I want to play a character from another comic book/tv show. Is that ok? As long as there's a way to realistically work them into the plot. 7. The Enroll page says to list my character's occuption. How do I know what catagory my character belongs in? Most characters begin as students or members of Team X. This usually depends on their age. You usually cannot directly add a member into the X-Men unless they are considered an X-Man in a comic/tv show/movie. Look through Cerebro to get a better idea of what the categories are about. If you're not sure where to put your charcter, leave it blank, and we'll try to help you figure it out. 8. How many characters can I play? We suggest one for a start, but every person is allowed 2 Marvel characters and 3 originals. 9. I tried to sign up at the club, but it says "Membership Pending." What does that mean? To keep people from just signing up and jumping in, membership to the club is restricted. All this means is that one of the Moderators (Will or myself) must approve your membership before you are allowed to read or post messages. Once we recieve a character profile from you we'll get you approved ASAP. | ![]() | ![]() |
